When we hear "ocean", we think

Of a blue that reflects the sky,

Of the beauty that resides within,

Of the mysteries yet to be discovered.

But have you ever wondered

Why the blue slowly dulls

How many species are close to extinction

Whether anything can still be discovered?

When all we've ever done

Is drive to places 5 minutes away,

Is promote excessive plastic usage,

Is litter when a bin is just around the corner.

We don't have the right

To play in its waters,

To tan in its beaches,

To surf in its waves.

Until we make things right,

Start changing our ways,

Start taking care of the great blue,

The way it deserves.

Start now.
